On Monday, August 30th, 1965, in Wichita, KS Cornell Dilworth Jr. was born from the union of Cornell Dilworth Sr. and Jeannette L. Conway. He was educated in the Wichita school district, graduating from East High School. After high school, Cornell served for the United States Army and later graduated from Heritage College.
Cornell who was given the nickname “Chilli” enjoyed cooking, reading, and researching whatever caught his interest. He also enjoyed collecting coins and fishing. Cornell enjoyed a variety of sports, but football was his main attraction. Dallas Cowboys was his favorite team, and if you just happen to be talking with him about “The Cowboys” you might want to put some respect on it! Dallas Cowboys could do no wrong in his books! Most importantly his greatest enjoyment was “PEOPLE”. Cornell loved meeting and talking with people young and old no matter what ethnicity. Cornell was very proud of all four of his children and fervently prayed for them through their childhood unto their adulthood. Also known as .” PawPaw Chilli”, he embraced and enjoyed the time he spent with his first grandson Diego.
Cornell had a brave heart; he had the courage and confidence to overcome many challenges. He loved and sought the Lord, always remembering and cherishing with honor how he was brought up by his beloved late parents Mr. and Mrs. Norman and Jeannette Thompson. After the passing of his mother in 2015 he made a strong Godly connection with a longtime family friend Ms. Marion Littleton (Aunt Mimi) better known to him as “MeeMaw” of whom he went to for advice, comfort, and prayer. Ms. Littleton loved Cornell as if he were her son. Cornell was an extraordinary Son, Father/grandfather, Brother, Nephew, Uncle and Friend.
Cornell was preceded in death by His parents Norman J. Thompson, and Jeannette L. Thompson, and Cornell Dilworth Sr. Grandparents; Nathaniel Conway and Sylvia L. Conway, James Thompson and Willie “Rein” Thompson, and Joe C. King. Nephew; Bradley T. Thompson.
