Erwin James Burke was born on July 14, 1932 to Franklin Burke and Hortense (Ward) Burke in Ft. Worth, TX. Erwin accepted Jesus Christ at an early age and attended Mt. Olive Missionary Baptist Church in Ft. Worth.
Erwin graduated from I.M. Terrell High School in 1950 and joined the U.S. Army shortly after, in which he served two years. Erwin then enlisted in the U.S. Air Force . During Erwin's time in the Air Force he served in Vietnam and also accomplished many goals , one of which was a degree in Civil Engineering. Erwin served 27 years in the United States Air Force, retiring as a Chief Master Sergeant. He then went to work as Base Commander of Housing at Lowry AFB as a Civil Servant and then completely retired after leaving this position.
In 1973 he married Mary R. Bobbitt and they enjoyed going camping and fishing. Erwin was very family oriented and didn't mind giving a helping hand when needed. Erwin was a very gentle and humble man.
Erwin James Burke departed this earthly life in the early morning hours of July 28, 2022 to join his parents; his sisters Joyce Pollard-Graves, Beverly Jean Maxie, brothers Clarence Pollard Sr., Donald Bobbitt Jr., and granddaughter Veronica Burke.
Erwin leaves to cherish his memory his wife Mary Burke; children Wilbert, Edward, Erwin Jr., Ronald and Angelika "Angel" Burke, Yvonne D. Thompson and Joyce Wray. Grandchildren Jada D. Burke-Smith, Jana Burke-Smith, Joshua S. Burke, Veronica Villa, Christal Valentine-Ebanks and Cleopatra "Cleo" Thompson-Ebanks. Great grandchildren Lily Burke-Lucero, Des`Rae, Xavier Burke, Byron Villa, Ayden Ebanks, Evan Ebanks, Londyn Bobbitt and Teagan Benavedi.
