Ethel Gholar Obituary

Ethel Gholar was born on June 9, 1936 in Pike County, MS to Hughry Brent and Ruby Parker Brent.  Ethel attended the Pike County Schools.
She moved from Hard Times MS to Wichita, KS in 1963.  Ethel was a single mother raising 3 children.  She never received any type of public assistance to help with raising her children.  She worked at Wesley Medical Center and at times would work a second job to support her children.   Ethel often talk to her children about being raised in MS, having work in the fields picking cotton, cleaning other peoples houses and other menial jobs.  Wanting better for her children, Ethel always told them to stay out of trouble, keep a job and obtain an education.  She was very proud of each of her children for their accomplishments.  After raising her children and retiring from Wesley Medical Center with 35 years of service, Ethel began to relax and enjoy her time alone.  Despite the struggles she faced, she overcame them and had a good life.

Ethel is preceded in death by her children Ruby D. Gholar and Howard Gholar Jr.; parents Hughry and Ruby Brent and stepfather W.R. Brister; siblings Leon Brent, Eugene Brent, Willie Brister, John Brister, Don L Brister, Linnie P. Walker and Lena Ross.

Those left to cherish Ethel's memory is her son Bobby "Bob" Gholar; siblings Betty Ligon of Colton, CA, Daisy Mosley, M.L. Brister; 9 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; 5 great great granchildren; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
