Geraldine Adams-Wright Obituary

Mother Geraldine Adams-Wright was born on August 5, 1939 in Texarkana, Arkansas to Samuel Muldrew & Clara Mae Pittman. She was the only child from this union. At age of 5 her parents would separate and she and her mother would relocate to Coolidge, Arizona. Her mother would meet and marry Mr. William Livingston who adopted and raised Geraldine along with 5 other siblings; 2 brothers and 3 sisters. Geraldine would thrive and blossom. She was baptized and accepted the Lord at the age of 12.

During Geraldine’s teenage years she met a soldier boy named Van Adams who she would date, get permission and go on to Marry, and spend 45 years of her life with him until his death after a lengthy illness. To this union she became the mother of 13 children; 8 sons and 5 daughters.

During those times of living, loving and raising children. Van & Geraldine moved to Wichita, Kansas to the Plainview area. They joined in fellowship at Plainview COGIC under the leadership of Elder H.W. Davis and it was where they would instill a solid foundation in their children regarding family, home and God. During this time Mother Adams-Wright would experience a wonderful event, she and her entire family were in the 1969 movie “Gypsy Moths” with Burt Lancaster and Gene Hackman, and the best thing was they were paid really good. In 1971/72 the family moved to midtown/Riverside area and would join New Covenant Church under Elder H.O Davis, their former pastor’s son. After the death of Van in 1992, Geraldine would meet and wed Mr. Irvin Wright and would be in this union for 25 years. Irvin and Mother Wright would remain a part of New Covenant Church until his passing in 2014 and hers on May 10th,, 2025.

Mother Wright was a wonderful Godly woman/mother both of her family and church for she loved them both. She taught her children to fear the Lord, be respectful at all times, to have pride in themselves and each other and to always stand together. Mother Adams-Wright was a very soft spoken and gentle person by nature. She loved to sing, had a beautiful voice and was always doing so. She was a great cook, and lived by a motto “Always cook enough so you can feed any company that comes by for a visit. She loved to dress even if it was just to go to Walmart. She loved to travel and was planning an ocean cruise and a down south trip during Juneteeth to cross the Pettus Bridge just days before leaving this present life.

Mother Adams-Wright was preceded by her husbands Van & Ervin; parents, brothers and sisters; her children Van Jr., Mildred, Ricky, Darrell, Gerald and Leroy.

Mother Adams-Wright is survived by a legacy of precious jewels; Stephanie Adams-Stone, Ivory Adams (Debbie), Sabra Mitchell (Roger), Bennie Adams (Christina), Cynthia Adams-Carter of Casa Grande, Arizona, Dannell (Tina) and Carolyn Adams all of Wichita; grandchildren, great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren and great-great-great grandchildren, as well as a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
