James S. Penn, 86, passed away on August 5th, 2023. He was born in Okmulgee, Oklahoma on March 23, 1937 to Thomas Jefferson Penn, and Mary (Bucner) Penn.
He graduated from Okmulgee High School, after graduating he became a roofer where he put on roofs all over the world, James ended up in Wichita, Kansas where he retired from Mahany Roofing company and met his wife Ruth J. (Robinson) Penn. They married in Pueblo, Colorado moved to Oklahoma City, Oklahoma for 2 years before moving back to Wichita, Kansas.
James enjoyed sports especially playing football as a young man and also watching it with family and friends as he got older. He was a practical joker, loved dominoes and playing a variety of card games especially spades.
In 1974 James professed his hope in Christ and became a member of New Jerusalem Baptist Church in Wichita, Kansas where he later became a deacon and served for many years.
James was an enthusiastic willing worker and assisted in other churches as well. Upon on his transitioning he was partnering under watch care at the Book Of Act Tabernacle Of Praise Church
He leaves to mourn his passing, Wife Ruth J. Pen, Wichita Kansas, Daughter Victoria Barnes, Detroit Michigan, Son Larry Penn (Jennifier) Howells New, Jersey, Son Tim Kelly Penn Wichita Kansas, Daughter Angela (Penn) Martin Enterprise, Alabama, Son Allen Wardell Brown Jr. Son Keith Robinson (Jennifer) Wichita Kansas, Son Clifford J Robinson Wichita Kansas, Son Chad Robinson (Nadine) Dallas Texas. 27 grandchildren, 32 great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews and friends. He was preceded in death by Father Thomas Jefferson Penn, Mother Mary (Buckner Penn), 9 brothers, 6 and sisters
He will be sorely missed.
