James Lewis Watson was born on March 16, 1958 unto Edith L. Allen and John L. Watson I. James was the 5th child of 11 siblings. He grew up in Wichita, Kansas and attended Metro School where he obtained his GED. James worked as a butcher most of his life at Excel and later Dole Foods which he retired from.
James met Vanessa Bennett and they had 4 children Astreia M. Duckens, DeAngelo A. Watson, John L. Watson II, and Anastacia C. Watson all of Wichita, Kansas. After being together for 10 years they separated. Later in life James met Crystal Tolefree and they had 2 sons Duall T. Watson and Destinn J. Watson also of Wichita, Kansas.
James loved spending time with his family and enjoyed fishing, cooking, and just being outdoors. He liked to go on hikes to unknown fishing holes as well as turtle hunting. James was an excellent cook of all sorts of dishes from gumbo to barbecue and everything in between. He was fun, loving and just a joy to be around. James always had a smile on his face and would make sure you did as well.
James is preceded in death by his son Deangelo A. Watson; parents: mother Edith L. Allen and father John L. Watson I; brothers Charles Allen Jr. and Kevin L. Watson; sister Angela G. Watson. James leaves to cherish his memory sisters Doris A. Grant (T.J) of Dallas, Texas, Gwendolyn A. Allen-Davis, Sharonda K. Watson, Miracle A. Watson, and Sonya Roach-Manns; brothers Kenneth L Allen and Darrell E. Watson all of Wichita, Kansas. James also leaves 17 grandchildren and 7 greatgrandchildren as well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, many other family members and many, many friends.
