Jefferson Eugene Brooks Jr

Jefferson Eugene Brooks Jr. Born Leroy Henry Rahn to Margaret “Cora” Barnes and Leroy Rahn on July 22, 1968 in Omaha, NE. He was adopted by Jefferson Brooks and Myrtle Starks in 1979. He was known as Jeff, JJ and JRock by his friends and family. In his younger years he worked for UPS and as a DJ at a tv/radio station. He moved to Wichita, KS in 1986. He was a resourceful and hardworking man who completed training for Masonry through Job Corp. He was skilled and took pride in his work as an independent contractor, doing a variety of jobs in construction, including, working for Buckley Roofing of Wichita and NMC Cat of Nebraska, for many years. He was married and separated from Mandy Rupe (2007-2019). He was the eldest of 4: Brothers Michael Brooks, Charles Brooks and sister Yolanda Moore After adoption he gained 5 more siblings whom he grew up with: Brothers Denovous Brooks, Jefferson Brooks, Sean Brooks (Shanique Williams) and sisters Ruth Brooks and Dana Brooks, He also gained several siblings through adoption: Sarika Kirby, Jaucelyn Ford, Victor Ford, Deshauna Brooks & Rayana Brooks. Later in life he reunited with his biological siblings: Brothers Leroy Rahn, Eugene Rahn and sisters Lyree Rahn and Sheila Hamelton.

He was preceded in death by his mother Margaret “Cora” Burnes, father Leroy Rahn, adopted father Jefferson Brooks and brothers Charles “Do-All” Brooks and Victor Ford.

He is survived by his children Trevon Brooks of AZ, Ashley Wills of Arcata, CA, Joshua Wills of Minneapolis, MN and Jayla Brooks of Omaha, NE. Grandchildren: Urijah Brooks, Keanu Brooks, Imani Brooks, Taj Brooks, Isla Thompson and Oshun Brooks. Life long friend Lisa Wills and many cousins, aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews, friends and family. Jeff was diagnosed with congestive heart failure in 2019 and colon cancer in his last year. He passed away on February 23, 2024 in Wichita, KS. After a strong battle he had made peace with himself. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
