Jesse Lee Thomas was born October 14, 194 8 to Hattie and Willi Thomas.
He attended Wichita High School East.
Jesse joined Glenda Thomas in matrimony in 1968 and from this union they
welcomed three children. Jesse enjoyed motorcycles, listening to music, and spending time with family playing cards, dominoes, chess, and reading. He was a proponent and actively engaged in the fight for Civil Rights. This is one of his characteristics that attracted his future wife and that he passed on to his children. He was a believer in education being the key to economic equality and he was a lifelong learner. Jesse was a son, father, friend, protector, unc, granddad, great granddad, Christian, and a gentleman. He had a presence that made people pay attention to what he said. He did not suffer fools but was quick to laugh. He enjoyed his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He had a strong spirit an d was very independent until the end. He believed that every person deserves respect, the family name was to be protected, that those with might must protect those without, and laughter is good for the soul. He taught those and other beliefs to everyone. B ut the greatest lesson that he taught was how to be a man.
Jesse leaves behind a host of family and friends to cherish
his memory including brothers Billy Thomas (Peggy), Cleotho
Thomas, Clyde Thomas, Harry Thomas, sisters; Gloria Thomas,
Debra Thomas Dixon (Patrick), and Karen
Jesse is preceded in death by his wife, Glenda Louise Thomas, father
Willie Thomas, M other Hattie Thomas, Sisters Shirley Faye Thomas
and Delores Anderson (Thomas).
