Jimmie Reed Obituary

Jimmie Wayne Reed was born in Wichita, KS to Joann Ray and Harold Reed on July 8, 1961.  He was baptized and attended St. James Missionary Church as a child.
Jimmie was educated in the Wichita public school system, graduating from Heights High School in 1980.  Shortly after high school Jimmy joined the Army National Guard.  After his service in the Army, Jimmie went to work for the Wichita public school systems as a custodian.  He joined the staff at Coleman Middle School in November 1980 and remained employed there until his retirement in June 2013.  After a short break (one year), Jimmie returned to work part-time at Buckner Elementary.  He worked for another 4 years and retired a second time due to failing health.
Jimmie married Linda Alexander on June 16, 1984 and one son was born to this union.  As a young couple they were added to the Chisholm Trail Church of Christ and have been members for over 35 years.  Jimmie worked as the church custodian and also volunteered as and usher and driver of the church van.
Jimmie enjoyed fishing with TJ, his grandson, bike riding and barbequing.  Jimmie could be seen all over the city on his bike.  He loved to barbeque and was so proud of the personalized, custom-made grill that his brother-in-law, Eddie Sullivan made for him.
He enjoyed and loved his family and was a good big brother to Sharon and Lolita.  He especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, going on vacation, going to park and delivering food to "Little Mama" whenever she called.  Jimmie was a jokester and prankster who made others laugh and cracked himself up, too.

Jimmie is preceded in death by his son Tony Wayne Reed Sr.; his mother and stepfather Joann and Lloyd Hunt; his father Harold Reed; his brothers Lloyd Hunt Jr. and David Reed.

Jimmy leaves to cherish his memory his wife Linda Reed; sisters Lolita Hunt and Sharon (William) Cotman, Heather Grisham of Akron, OH; brothers Brandon Reed of Akron, OH, Patrick Reed and Asa Reed of Dallas, TX; grandchildren Jadyn Tenn, Tony Reed Jr., Keyanna Everett and Zahnia Reed; father-in-law Alex (Debra) Alexander of Kansas City, KS; sisters-in-law Brendha (Gary) Alexander-Bobbitt, Louise Alexander and Glenda (Leroy) Carter of Tulsa, OK and brother-in-law Duane Alexander of Tulsa, OK.  He also leaves to his furry friend, Jack and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
