Kip Thompson was born on March 9, 1956 in Los Angeles, CA to Grover Hunt and Florence Cook. He was the last of six children to be born. Kip attended 96th Street Elementary School, Markham Jr. High School and graduated from David Starr Jordan High School. He continued his education at Los Angeles Community College for another year and a half as a Liberal Arts Major. He did not earn his degree because of many set-backs.
Kip worked in the service industry, both in Los Angeles, CA and Las Vegas, NV. Hip worked as a private duty attendant and a facility aide with the downtown mission shelter for more than ten years. Kip moved to Wichita, KS in 2004 and became gainfully employed as a security guard with the Textron Aviation Company and remained with them until he became ill and could no longer work.
Kip loved people and always looked for an opportunity to meet and make new friends. He loved joking around and had a dry sense of humor and welcomed the chance to have a good laugh. Kip was baptized at the age of eleven and he loved the Lord. His love for God and people made him an enjoyable person to be around. He seldom complained, often looked upon other's needs more than his own, and most knew they were better off after making his acquaintance.
Kip passed away on the morning of November 9th 2023 from complications while undergoing surgery related to his diabetes.
He is preceded in death by his father Grover, his mother Florence, his brothers Gregory, William, and Glenn.
He leaves to mourn his passing his wife Lakeatha Thompson of Wichita, KS; his sister Sheryl Spears of Wichita, KS; his brother and sister-in-law Gary and Sherian Cook of Wichita, KS, and a whole host of cousins, nephews, nieces, friends and extended family.
