Patricia Lemmie Obituary

Patricia Yvonne Flournoy Lemmie, affectionately known as "Ms. Pat," left this world on January 8, 2025, at the age of 67. She was a woman of remarkable determination, will, and drive, whose infectious spirit and love for life touched the hearts of all who knew her.

Born on September 2, 1957, in Midland, Texas, to Rev. Ostell Ted Flournoy and Francis E. Tisdale Flournoy, Pat spent her early years in Nowata, Oklahoma, before moving to Wichita, Kansas, where she attended Ingalls and Lowell Elementary, Roosevelt Jr. High, South High School and ultimately earned her Associate of Arts degree.

Pat found joy in life’s simple pleasures— especially enjoying good food, having fun, and making others laugh. She even became a TikTok sensation in her later years, delighting those who knew her as "Mama Pat." She had a heart full of music and loved to sing, especially gospel songs, belting out hymns with her powerful alto voice. One of her favorites was How Great Thou Art. Her love of the color purple was well known to all who loved her.

Pat faced numerous health challenges, including congenital heart failure, diabetes, stage 4 COPD, and other illnesses that made it difficult for her to breathe. Despite these struggles, her sense of humor never wavered. During a stay in the MICU, after most of her visitors had left, she looked around and said, “Hey, where did everybody go? Oh… I see why they call this ICU… it’s like I C U… later. I’m out.” Her laughter and strength in the face of adversity were a testament to her resilient spirit.A sociable and loving woman, Pat had a wide circle of friends whom she considered family. However, nothing brought her more joy than the sight of her grandchildren. Her legacy will continue in the hearts of all who loved her.

Patricia was preceded in death by her husband, Derick Lemmie; parents, Rev. O.T. Flournoy and Francis Tisdale Flournoy; sons, Darius L. Flournoy and William Mathenia; siblings, Roland D. French, Terry Cass, Gregory Andre Flournoy, Frank Wayne Flournoy, and Jeanette Flournoy. She leaves to cherish her memory: three daughters, Kaiesha Williams (Kundayi), Christina Hill-Lemmie, and Persephony Flournoy; one son, Maurio Williams; siblings, Virgil E. French, Alex F. Flournoy (Virginia), Jesse Flournoy, LK Flournoy, David Flournoy, Junetta Everett (Victor), and Annie Flournoy; twelve grandchildren; eighteen great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Pat fought the good fight, finished her course, and kept the faith. Her spirit lives on in the memories she created and the joy she shared with everyone fortunate enough to know her. She will be deeply missed by all whose lives she touched. May she rest in peace.
