Randall Williams Military Veteran Obituary

Randall B. Williams, a loving father, proud serviceman, and cherished member of his community, passed away on December 13, 2025, at the age of 61. Born in Biloxi, Mississippi, he was a treasured gift to the late Willie Mae Williams. Randall—affectionately known as Randy—lived a life defined by service, laughter, faith, and an unwavering commitment to those he loved.

A devoted father of three, Randy found his greatest joy in his children. Shen’a Williams Dreyfus, Donzell Gilkey, and Dominique E. Griffith were his pride, his purpose, and his greatest accomplishment. He poured into them through encouragement, humor, and steadfast support, ensuring they always knew they were deeply loved and capable of anything. To his family, he was a source of strength and comfort—someone who showed up, stood tall, and loved fiercely.

Randy honorably served for 17 years in the National Guard, answering the call of duty with dedication, integrity, and pride. His military service reflected his deep sense of responsibility and lifelong commitment to protecting and serving others—values he carried into every area of his life.

Service was part of who he was from an early age. As a high school student, Randy worked as a summer camp counselor, guiding younger campers with patience, humor, and care. His love for children was evident in everything he did. He delighted in making them laugh, feel safe, and feel special. He was well known for always having candy and a dollar ready for his nieces and nephews whenever he saw them. Within the community, Randy could often be found cutting a neighbor’s lawn or volunteering his time to assist seniors, always willing to help, listen, and show respect.

Faith was also an important part of Randy’s life. He was baptized at Rising Star Baptist Church under the leadership of Reverend Mackey, a moment that reflected the spiritual foundation and values he carried throughout his life.

Randy had a lifelong love for basketball and proudly played for North High School, later continuing to play at Piatt Park, also known as Lynette Woodard Park. He was a devoted Kansas City Chiefs fan who enjoyed watching football and embracing game days with excitement and passion. Music was another meaningful way he connected with others. For approximately three years, Randy served as a DJ at local clubs, bringing people together to dance and enjoy life.

Known for his infectious laughter and high spirits, Randy had a gift for lighting up any room. His humor, optimism, and warm presence left a lasting impression on everyone he met. He believed deeply in lifting others up—especially during difficult times—and was always ready with a helping hand or an encouraging word.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Willie Mae Williams; his sister, Addie Mae Roebuck; and his son, Dominique Griffith.

Randall Bertram Williams leaves to cherish his memory his beloved children, Shen’a Williams Dreyfus and Donzell Gilkey; seven siblings: Rev. Juliette Griffin of Letohatchee, Alabama; Doris (John) Hollis of Huntsville, Alabama; Mable Barnes, Darrell Barnes, Lewis Ellis, Larry (Andrea) Ellis, and Steven Williams, all of Wichita, Kansas; one beloved aunt, Mrs. Julia R. Nelms of Opelika, Alabama; seven grandchildren—Destiny Washington, Latyvonnia Washington, Christian Mallory, Neveah Pryor, Bard Dreyfus, Semaj Dreyfus, and Dawn Gilkey—as well as a host of nieces, nephews, great-grandchildren, and a wide circle of friends who became family.

While we grieve his physical absence, we find comfort in knowing that his love, faith, service, laughter, and legacy live on in the hearts of all who loved him.

We are strengthened by the words of Isaiah 40:31:
“But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.”

A celebration of Randy’s life will be held on May 26, 2026, in Wichita, Kansas. All who knew and loved him are invited to honor his memory by serving others, loving deeply, sharing laughter, and remembering him whenever his favorite song plays.
