Sidney Doral Peeks was born to Shirley Payne-Sears and Sammie Peeks on March 13, 1972, bringing creative harmony and joyful aspiration to the many lives he encountered. The Lord blessed Sidney early in his life, before the age of 2 years old, with a loving, dedicated, supportive, and godly Father, Willie Sears who raised him as his own.
Sidney was the eldest of five children: brothers, Torey and Marlon, and two sisters, Hope and Tiffany. His friend, Terry Gordon was like family to him as well. Family meant everything to him, as he patterned his nurturing, kindness, and patience after his loving and supportive parents. Sidney later was blessed with a family of his own, sons Doral and Sidney and daughter Angelina. He was also blessed with two grandchildren: granddaughter, Eden Peeks and grandson, Jahkeer Peeks.
Sidney attended Derby Public Schools. He was baptized at First Pentecostal at an early age and would always proclaim, “God is good!”. Wherever Sidney was, you would hear his joyful laughter and often the roar of laughter from those he creatively entertained in a respectful way. As a self-taught musical artist, Sidney authored many songs, as singing and dancing was his passion! He often recruited his siblings and other family members to harmonized or dance with him. There was always song in his heart and dancing in his feet. He also used his creativity and entrepreneurial skills to start his own successful business, “Sidney’s Tree Service,” providing tree trimming and tree removal services for over 20 years.
On Sunday, June 2, 2024, Sidney passed away unexpectantly. He is preceded in death by his grandparents, Lenard and Mary Payne.
Sidney leaves to cherish his memories, songs, and dance, parents: Willie and Shirley Sears; brothers, Torey (Callie) Peeks, Marlon (Ruth) Sears; sisters, Hope (Ricky) Henderson, and Tiffany (Cortez Walker) Sears; Sons, Doral Peeks and Sidney Peeks; daughter, Angelina Peeks; grandchildren, Eden Peeks and Jahekeer Peeks; Uncle, Aunts and a host of family members and friends.
