Stephanie Anukam Obituary

Stephanie Anukam- Eulogy/ Life

On March 30, 1965, in Wichita, Kansas, the world was blessed with the arrival of a baby girl named Stephanie Denise Ponds. Born to Sybill and Fred Ponds, she was a radiant vision with her golden hair and grayish-green eyes. From her very first day, she embodied an angelic charm and queenly grace that would touch the lives of everyone she met. Stephanie’s journey of life, filled with love and learning, began in this city where she spent the rest of her life.

Stephanie is a proud graduate of Southeast High School and furthered her education at Wichita State University, Friends University, and Butler County Community College. In 1986, Stephanie found her life partner, Martin Anukam, in Wichita, Kansas, and their love blossomed into a beautiful family of six children. In 1995, Stephanie channeled her love for children and education into a successful home daycare business, which she ran with dedication and love until her last day. Her hobbies were as diverse as her interests, from books, music, and traveling, to shopping and gaming. Her enthusiasm for building relationships inspired her to become a sorority member and founded a women’s gathering group that allowed women to build friendships and find fellowship with one another. This reflected Stephanie’s desire for women to unite and foster a supportive community.

Stephanie will be fondly remembered for her delicious recipes, melodious singing voice, infectious laughter, and keen sense of fashion and style. Her wisdom and advice were a source of comfort and guidance for many, and she firmly believed in the importance of love, appreciation, and respect. Stephanie embodies love, strength, and resilience in our hearts. As we gather here today, we celebrate not just her life, but the enduring impact she has had on each one of us. Her spirit continues to guide and inspire us, reminding us of the power of love, the importance of community, and the joy of laughter.

Stephanie’s legacy lives on in her husband, Martin Anukam, six children: Jennifer Anozie, Chelsea Anukam, Jessica Anukam, Brandon Anukam, Brittani Anukam, and Brooke Anukam. She also has eight grandchildren, three siblings: Terry Ponds, Angela “Angie” Littlejohn, and Valencia “Shelly” Ponds, and many relatives and friends who continue to cherish her memory.

Psalm 23

The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want. He makes me lie- down in green pastures. He leads me beside still waters. He restores my soul. He leads me in righteousness for his name’s sake. Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me. You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies; you anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows. Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life, and I shall dwell in the house of the Lord forever.
