Steven Lee James was born October 6, 1964 to the late Robert Lee James Sr. and the late Virgie Lee James. Steven was the 8th child in the family. He was affectionately known as Boy Wonder. Steven attended Wichita, KS public schools.
Throughout his life, he was known to crack a few jokes, cooking was his love and his children. He was just a simple guy always calling his family to do everything from things like take him here and take him there, and once we would got there he’d show that big smile and say “I ain’t got no money”. He was just a big, spoiled guy. Our baby brother will be missed, and his children will always be loved.
Steven is preceded in death by his son Isaiah James; parents Robert Lee James Sr. and Virgie Lee James; 2 brothers, William Windford and Robert Lee James Jr.; 3 sisters, Elsie Baker,
Warnetta Irving and Chantelle James-Hill.
Steven is survived by Kathleen Kemp (wife), 3 sons, Eugene Kemp, Diontae James, and Terrod James; and 1 daughter Regina Roberts of Houston, TX; 3 sisters, Dorothy James-Snell, Mattie
James-Duckett, and Rutha James-Williams (Charles). Words cannot express how the family feels. Just know you will be greatly missed. We will always remember “can I hold something, love you”. Fly high baby brother !!!!!!! Your 3 sisters
Hey Grandpa, it’s about that time. I should’ve called and talked to you more, but
now I can’t. I miss hearing you laugh, and every time I called you, you would be
happy. It makes my day when you smile. But now you are no longer here with me. I
told you no matter what happens, I will take care of the family, and I will keep that
promise Grandpa. I miss you so much. I felt that I disappointed you, but I know
what you would have said, You did not disappoint me, mistakes happen and life goes
on”. He would say as he smiled. I wish I did enough for you, but in your eyes, I did.
I love you, and as Diontae James Jr.
I will continue to make you proud.
I miss you Grandpa.
