Willie Mae Latham Obituary

Willie Mae (Payne) Latham was born on May 28, 1942, the eldest of 8 children born to Theodore and Lorene (Ligons) Payne in Hoffman, OK.  Willie Mae received her formal education at Hoffman Elementary School and Grayson High School. In 1959, Willie Mae was united in marriage to Clifford Myles until his death and moved to Wichita, KS in 1961. Willie Mae received her certification as a Medical Lab Technician in 1974 and worked until retirement. On September 20, 1975, Willie Mae was united in marriage to Johnnie Latham until his death in 2007. Willie Mae's most fond memories were the births of her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.  She enjoyed being with family, gardening, and needle crafts.

She leaves to cherish her memory her son Billy Bennett Sr. (Stephanie); daughters Janet Myles and Trina Latham; brothers Theodore Payne Jr. (Linda), Paul Payne (Rochelle); Terry Payne and Ralph Paulk;sisters Mary Currin and Queen Shine (Ira);grandchildren Jasmine, Essence, Billy Jr., Jason, Nyisha, Jamal, Lorenzo, Davyon, Taj`Ganee and JaQuari; 17 great- grandchildren; including her little caregiver whom she helped raise, De`Aiyziah.

Willie Mae is preceded in death by her parents Theodore and Lorene Payne; sisters Patricia Paulk and Janet Payne; husbands Clifford Myles and Johnnie Latham; nephews Greg Paulk and Brent Currin.

In her words: To My Family “I wish for Peace, Love, Family togetherness, sharing in the Joy and the heartache of each other. For family to love God first, look beyond our faults and to love us anyways”.
